Instructors

ABQFX 2015 is a 2-track blues/fusion event, and we are very enthusiastic about our instructors.
Luke Weismann and Jeannie Lin are our fusion instructors, and you can see them dancing together here. Amos Rose and Kara Fabina are our blues instructors, and you can see them dancing together here. Come work with them during the day in classes, learn from them by taking private lessons and/or mini-privates, and dance with them at night during the social dances. |
Luke Weismann started dancing in 1996 and hasn’t been more than 100 yards from his dance shoes since. There are three principles that define Luke’s approach to teaching:
As a dancer, Luke's goal is to make the person he's dancing with want to dance with him again and again, and as a teacher, his goal is for any student he teaches to be inspired to continue to dance and to take more classes with him in the future. |
Jeannie Lin is a dance instructor based in San Francisco who currently travels the world to teach dance. With a wide repertoire of dance styles, Jeannie is often seen on the fusion dance floor weaving in and out of styles seamlessly with little effort. She draws most inspiration from modern dance and tango.
As an instructor, Jeannie places a strong emphasis on partner connection and a highly attuned body awareness. She breaks down fundamental techniques in a clear, precise manner and enjoys challenging students to take risks by finding innovative ways of co-creating. Jeannie encourages her students to approach each dance with curiosity, deep listening, and a willingness to play. |
Amos Rose began dancing in 2007 with an introductory swing class. Surviving that night, he continued dancing as often as was possible. It was not long before he was introduced to Blues dancing, after which his life would never be the same.
Residing in Colorado Springs, Amos runs Front Range Swing & Blues while still traveling, teaching, competing, and learning all over the world. His love for dance and showmanship has earned him recognition in the blues scene worldwide. His dancing has a musical playfulness to it that is still entirely committed to his partnership. In the classroom, he uses his in depth understanding of body structure and mechanics to emphasize functional, natural movement. Find out more here. |
Kara Fabina is a national dance instructor based in Colorado Springs. Since 2008 she has been teaching and competing in jazz, swing and blues throughout the world. Having been dancing for over 15 years, Kara brings both knowledge and experience to the dance floor. She has been recognized internationally for her choreography as well as her achievements in competitions. As an instructor, she stresses connection with one’s partner, connection to the music, and intention in dancing. Her real passion is to become a dance historian and study each style’s rich history and culture. Find out more here.
