The Team
Suzanne Sluizer
Co-organizer Suzanne began to learn swing dancing –– Jitterbug, Lindy, Charleston and Balboa –– in 2007. She fell in love with blues dancing shortly thereafter, while attending a workshop with Steven Mitchell and Virginie Jensen. She has continued to attend blues, swing and fusion events whenever possible. One night Suzanne was chatting with her friend Anna and began to talk about ideas she had for a dance event. It seems that all those years of attending events had created strong convictions about what ingredients went into making a fabulous event. It would have remained just talk, except that Anna was enthused and wanted to help create an event based on those ideas. So they decided to do it and, paraphrasing Field of Dreams, they figured that "if we organize it, they will come". |
Roger Renteria
Housing Coordinator In 2004, Roger started with swing dance while at college. After graduating from New Mexico Tech, he was introduced to blues dance and absolutely loved it! Over the past few years, he has traveled across the country attending various amazing blues dance events. Roger also helps run and promote the weekly blues dance in Albuquerque. He continues to learn more dance techniques and wants more people to experience dancing in a welcome, fun, and safe environment. |
Amy Lynn
Volunteer Coordinator Amy is so pleased to be a part of the ABQFX team! After years of dancing and organizing, she's excited to contribute to another great event. A native New Mexican, Amy loves being able to share her passion for dance, music, and her home with the dance community.
